Christ For the City International, headquartered in Omaha, NE, is evangelical protestant mission organization with over 200 missionaries in Latin America, Spain and Mali. Nearly 75% of CFCI missionaries are Latins ministering in the own countries, cities and communities. Each of our 14 bases are run by nationals, develop their own ministry strategies and have their own Board of Directors. CFCI then sends North American missionaries to partner with the national missionaries to serve the poor and reach cities for Jesus Christ.
Requirements
• A born-again experience in the Biblical and evangelical sense of the term
• Maturity in the Christian faith and evident fruits of the Spirit
• Affirmation of the CFCI Statement of Faith
• Agreement with the Core Values and Missiological Principles of CFCI
• A life-style that is exemplary and one that would serve as an example of the Christian life to others.
• If married, has a solid faithful marriage; home Biblically in order. If single, is at peace with his/her singleness and has a proper relationship with members of the opposite sex.
• Has a servant-like attitude.
• Has had some successful experience in the church or in other Christian service, such as a with a para-church mission or organization, short term mission experience, etc
• Has the education or training needed for the ministry he/she will be doing. For instance, if a missionary will be training pastors, obviously he needs some biblical, seminary-type training; if leading short-term teams to do construction, some background in building is needed; if working with orphans, needs to love children, etc.
• Is willing to raise Support and Travel & Equipment funds, and perhaps Work Funds.
• Knows the national language or is willing to learn in a CFCI approved language school for a specified length of time.
Lengths of Terms
Long-Term Missionaries usually serve for a “term” of 3-4 years. If serving outside of their home country, they need to return to the home country at least every 3 or 4 years to make contact with churches and other supporters.
