Adolescent Girls Home Worker

Nestled in the hills above San Jose, Costa Rica lies a place offering hope and a second chance to girls rescued from life on the streets. Christ For the City’s ministry Renacer, a word meaning “rebirth” in Spanish, is a new home for these teenage girls who come from lives filled with drugs, prostitution, or abusive homes.

The program at Renacer is nationally recognized in Costa Rica for bringing troubled adolescent girls from the brink of breakdown to stability through structured living conditions, programs offering educational and vocational opportunities, professional counseling, and new life in Christ.

Christ For the City invites you to witness “rebirth” firsthand with us at Renacer. Give one year of your life to serving hurting and hopeless young women through programs, Bible studies, and mentoring. Your life can be a precious illustration of Christ to girls who have never experienced His love and forgiveness.

Mission Trip Receiver

Our missionary staff in Costa Rica know that mission teams have a phenomenal effect on the communities they come to serve. Mission teams are able to come alongside local pastors and churches and are used by God to encourage churches to reach their vision and continue the work that they are doing locally. Because of the impact teams have on their ministry in Costa Rica, our missionaries focus much of their energy each summer working with teams arriving from the U.S. and Canada.

Each summer is an exciting, but hectic time for our missionary staff. We always have a need for assistant leaders to help us through the busy summer. If you have strong Spanish skills and a desire to develop your leadership abilities, come spend your summer with us in Costa Rica helping our staff in preparing for and receiving teams. You will have the opportunity to travel throughout the San Jose area becoming familiar with the city and continuing to master the language. In preparing for the teams, you would be responsible for accompanying the missionary staff on site visits and choosing locations for each team, as well as helping with logistics like arranging transportation and lodging. When the team arrives you would be with the team serving as a leader and translator.

Spending a year or two as a Mission Trip Receiver will bless our missionary staff and be an incredible opportunity for you to see God work in the lives of the team members you serve and the people of San Jose.

Construction and Maintenance

Running a ministry is rewarding, but spiritually and emotionally draining work. Building relationships and making headway in ministering to those in need is a more than full-time occupation. When church or ministry facilities are inadequate or need repair, missionaries often must choose whether to add maintenance and construction to their long list of things to do, or to limit the ministry functions they perform in order to see to the things that need to be fixed.

Those who come to serve through construction and maintenance relieve our missionaries of the burden of worrying about how they will get things fixed or what they will do when additions must be made to their facilities. Bringing your construction skills to Costa Rica is a practical and hands on way to serve. The many varied ministries that Christ For the City operates throughout the San Jose area will keep you busy, and during the summer months you will also have the opportunity to help organize and lead construction projects with mission teams. If you are looking for a way to use your gifts for the Kingdom, we invite you to spend some time with us in Costa Rica.
